DON DESIGN X LEE PEART

🎤 The Brief
I was commissioned by stand-up comedian and TV warm-up fave Lee Peart to create an illustrated cover for his debut podcast series, Let’s Talk with Lee Peart. The artwork needed to reflect Lee’s bold personality, signature style, and the energy of his guest interviews — which draw from his time on the comedy circuit and behind the scenes at ITV’s Loose Women.

🪩 The Solution
Lee envisioned an illustrated “interview moment” — him welcoming a guest with a drink in hand — and wanted the scene to feel fun, stylish, and unmistakably him. Using a reference photo for accuracy, I brought the scene to life with a colour palette pulled straight from Lee’s wardrobe, paired with hand-drawn typography inspired by retro TV title cards. We initially explored adding a silhouette of a mystery guest, but ultimately removed it to keep the artwork feeling light and vibrant.

🎨 The Process
The illustration was hand-drawn using pen and ink, then digitally coloured in Photoshop to ensure a clean, high-res finish that would work beautifully across podcast platforms and social media.
Following the launch, Let’s Talk with Lee Peart was featured in Apple’s New & Noteworthy — with cover artwork playing a key role in making that spotlight happen.
